- 2 double rooms

In its simplest form, this apartment is big. You'll enter through the kitchen, urban chic with its marble and exposed brick, perfect for a kibitz over coffee. It's also fully outfitted with all the latest accoutrements, so that you can cook to your heart's desire. The living room lies beyond through a pair of French doors, with so much space that you might begin to feel like a celebrity.
This presents a dilemma: New Yorkers are supposed to ignore celebrities, on the street, in restaurants. Is it possible to ignore oneself? The bathroom provides no help there, with plenty of light and mirrors, to say nothing of the gorgeous marble sink. Should you need to hide, the two subtly decorated bedrooms lie just off the living room and are the perfect place to shut out the rest of the world. What could be more New York than that?
I'm walking here!
You won't have to go far for terrific nosh, as this neighbourhood features all the staples like slices and bagels. There are also plenty of hidden ethnic restaurants — be sure to stop by the Ukranian Veselka for brunch. New Yorkers want the best of everything, and there are a handful of single-item restaurants you must try.
Just beyond your doorstep you'll find stores that specialize in meatballs (The Meatball Shop), lobster rolls (Luke's Lobster), French fries (Pommes Frites) and even macaroni and cheese (Macbar, S'Mac). Though our host's apartment is in a quiet nook of the neighbourhood, there are plenty of bars and lounges nearby to remind you why this is known as the city that never sleeps. If you must leave, the 6 train is nearby, and remember: New Yorkers never call it the subway. It's always just "the train."
